Aphonopelma bicoloratum (Mexican Bloodleg) 

Appearance: Known for bright, fiery red/orange legs that contrast with a dark, almost black, carapace and abdomen.

Size: Adults generally reach 4–6 inches in leg span.

Temperament: Extremely docile and rarely kick hairs, making them ideal for beginners, though juveniles can be skittish.

Growth Rate: Very slow; can take 5–8 years to reach full maturity.

Lifespan: Females can live 20–30 years, while males live 5–7 years. 

Care and Husbandry

Habitat: Dry, scrubland environment.

Enclosure: A terrestrial setup, with a 5-gallon tank usually sufficient for adults.

Substrate: 3–4 inches of coconut fiber, topsoil, or a mix to allow for burrowing.

Temperature/Humidity: 75–80°F (24–27°C) with low to medium humidity (55–65%).

Diet: Large crickets, roaches, or mealworms every 7–14 days.
