Thelyphonus sp Thailand – Thai Vinegaroon
Defense: They lack venom glands but defend themselves by spraying concentrated acetic acid (vinegar) from their tail, which can spray in any direction.
Habitat: Nocturnal, terrestrial creatures found in tropical, forested areas, often hiding under logs or leaf litter.
Diet: Carnivorous, feeding on small insects, worms, and small invertebrates.
Lifespan: Generally 3 to 5 years.
Captive Care: Require deep (6-8 inches) moisture-retaining substrate (like coconut fiber/peat moss) and a water dish, with high humidity.
Size: Smaller than American counterparts (Mastigoproctus), but still substantial.
